About

The 2023 Public Policy Network Conference is now open for registration. This year’s conference will be hosted by UNSW Canberra at Old Parliament House. The conference will take place from Wednesday the 12th of April to Thursday the 13th of April 2023.

The Public Policy Network is an informal collective of Australian and New Zealand scholars of public policy and public administration. The annual conference provides an opportunity for scholars at all career levels to meet and network in a single-stream (no concurrent sessions) format. Presentations can range from early-stage research ideas to completed papers.

An Evening with Mr Howard, 5:30pm – 7:30pm: Join us on the night of the first day of the conference for drinks, canapes, and a facilitated discussion with John Winston Howard OM AC SSI on the historical challenges of implementing good and responsible public policy.

Mr Howard will be joined by Jane Halton AO PSM, Karen Middleton and the evening will be facilitated by John Warhurst AO.

Registration: Registrations are limited, please register here. Registration for the conference is $220 for in-person attendance and $70 for students.  Conference tickets include access to the in conversation with Mr Howard event (please do not purchase a separate ticket).

Dinner: We are considering having a conference dinner on the evening of the 13th for people who are remaining in Canberra and those going to the graduate workshop. More details will follow to people who register for the conference.

Venue: Due to the success in recent years, the 2023 Public Policy Network Conference will be hosted as a hybrid event. We will have conference rooms booked at Old Parliament House for presenters to meet in person. Audience members based outside Canberra, and those based in Canberra who are not able to meet in person, will be able to join the event online. 

A graduate research workshop will be included within the main conference.

Presenters will be given time to deliver their presentations, and dedicated discussants will provide personalised feedback.
